Hiding the Mess

I'm not going to pretend that I have a very normal studio… or a very clean one… but considering that the studio doubles as our guest room, I have to spruce it up every once in a while.

Do you like how our "guest bed" is propped up against the wall, disguised by an old Ikea rug stapled to the bottom?  Yeah… classy.

I tried to neatly label everything on my shelves, but it just wasn't cutting it.  Too cluttered.

So I made some curtains to disguise the mess!  So many people have these wire shelving units, and I researched covers for them, without much luck… so I just winged it and made my own.  It's in two pieces: one goes over the top and down the sides, and the other moves along a curtain rod on the front.

I put the black grosgrain trim on using Fabritac… have you guys ever seen this stuff?  It's like using hot glue but without the heat and cord and mess!  I love it!

Pretty easy access!

And now we have a nice(ish), neat(ish) space for our guests.  I finished this project just in time for a dear friend to come stay with us - the same amazing friend who celebrates France and impressionism with me while I paint my dining room.  How wonderful to have a friend provide inspiration AND a deadline!
